This merger will eliminate the need for investigators and research team members to have accounts with both institutions. UPMC has merged their CITI Training Course subscription with the University of Pittsburgh's CITI subscription effective June 8, 2017. These changes will be implemented immediately.

This means that if you have previously completed the General courses, you will not be required to complete the new training until 3-4 years have passed. Please note that new training for the small and large animal general courses will be required for new investigators/research staff and will be required every four years. The new training regime will be located on the Training Page on the IACUC website. The IACUC has adopted CITI’s species-specific courses that researchers will be required to complete dependent on the species used in the IACUC protocols. In addition, we have updated the controlled substances course.

We have combined general research utilizing animals with both the small and large animal courses to reduce the number of courses everyone is required to take. The IACUC has moved all animal research related training to the CITI platform. As of, Pitt laboratory workers must complete Bloodborne Pathogens training on the CITI platform.
